El Silencio is a small but pretty village high on the mountainside above Tronadora with views from the Arenal Volcano at the east end of the lake to the Tenorio, Miravalles, and Rincon de la Vieja volcanos beyond the west end of the lake. Besides the road up the mountain from Tronadora, El Silencio is served by a road that comes directly from Tilaran and proceeds to the village of Rio Chiquito where the tourist launches land in the excursion between Arenal Volcano and Monteverde. While El Roble is a hillside village a little to the west of Tronadora, El Silencio is an even higher village and lies to the east of Tronadora.
